On the whole, I agree with and am supportive of the visitor levy. In some ways it is overdue given the challenges at peak times.
My concern and objection to the current information is the imbalance between the cost for lower end accommodation (camping) and just 50p per night more for all other forms of accommodation. 75p per night is a big part of a £10-£15 per night camping charge, and even a £35-£40 per night hostel charge.
£1.25 pp/pn on the other hand, forms a much lower proportion of the cost of accommodation which is double this cost and more.
As a provider of outdoor activities, which uses campsites and hostels, we have long been preparing for the potential impact of the levy, though I will admit to being very surprised that educational groups have been included.
I am certainly surprised by the imbalance of proportion between the two levels.
The Regulatory Impact Assessment is set out in Part 2 of the Explanatory Memorandum (https://senedd.wales/media/g5ipwvwh/pri-ld16812-em-e.pdf). This includes the Welsh Government’s assessments of the financial and other impacts of the Bill and its implementation.

The administration of the collection of funds. I can see campsites in particular finding this challenging.

Endless tedious media articles opposing the bill. Mainly London.

No one can argue that generating extra funds to be spent in Wales is excellent.
The powers to make subordinate legislation are set out in Part 1: Chapter 5 of the Explanatory Memorandum (https://senedd.wales/media/g5ipwvwh/pri-ld16812-em-e.pdf).
The Welsh Government has also set out its statement of policy intent for subordinate legislation (https://business.senedd.wales/documents/s155951/Statement%20of%20Policy%20Intent.pdf).
